今月9日に草千里ヶ浜周辺の野焼きが開催されました。

Controlled burning at Kusasenrigahama was conducted in 9th March.

阿蘇の草原は自然に形成されたものではなく、

野焼き、採草、放牧という農業の営みにより

人の手で千年以上も前から維持されてきました。

Aso’s grassland is maintained through controlled burning, mowing and grazing over a thousand years .

害虫駆除や草原の森林化を防ぐために、

阿蘇地域一帯では毎年野焼きが実施されています。

To preventer the grasslands in Aso area from pest control and turning into forests, grasslands are intentionally burned in every spring.

草原に生える草は牛や馬の放牧、

茅葺き屋根にも利用されてきました。

The grasses are utilizing as pasture or roof of Japanese traditional houses.

草原は保水力があり、

阿蘇の豊富な伏流水となります。

Grasslands have been retained water underground, Aso is blessed with groundwater.

野焼きから約1ヶ月も経つと黒々とした大地から

新緑の青々とした大地へと変わっていきます。

1 month after from controlled burning, black land become beautiful fresh green.

1年を通して様々な景色を

見られることが阿蘇の魅力の一つです。
